Even at an early age, i have expressed my fascination with water and everything that has to do with it. It's no wonder that i became a swimmer (and a good one at that) and have created a fantasy of becoming a mermaid. Over the years i have learned that prayers are not enough to transform you into one and even vicky bello cannot help me at having my own set of golden fins.
So i turned to SCUBA DIVING.
There's no wonder that fishes die when you take them out of the water.
The deep blue is practically one of the best places on earth that you can be in. It's an environment where curiousity takes the best of you as you encounter colorful fishes, various water plants, and fascinating corals. Non living and living forms at 60 ft. becomes an epitome of life at its best. Something that we constantly seek here on land. The beauty underneath the ocean is incomparable to the superficial and material things that we see above. Life size aquariums do not even give the same experience as compared to what scuba diving offers to you.
The adventure of interacting with magnificent creatures and the journey of swimming into endless depths is both appealing and exciting. The freedom of existing in an entirely different world brings you to a state of eternal tranquility and contentment.
This is why i urge everyone to support every effort there is to protect our second world, the ocean. You do not have to be submerged into this paradise to be able to realize that it is worth saving. Fish bowls are just a teaser for the magic that lies beneath the ocean. What some of us don't encounter everyday, is a haven for those who seek peace. As humans, we should make the effort to respect and protect one of the true wonders in our planet.
To simply put it.
Save the ocean so nemo can find his way.

Movie at the Office: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones movies are known for the fast chase, catchy lines, well thought-out plots, effects, theme song, and harrison ford's hat. This time it's different. Really different.
I do not think that we would all like to remember Indie's latest adventure. Don't get me wrong i was having a roll watching the movie - it has met every Indiana Jones standards. There's the adrenaline rush stunts that would keep you at the edge of your seat. The witty lines and not to mention Shia LeBeouf to keep your eyes glued on the silver screen. There's also the superb acting, as expected, from Harrison Ford and the chameleon of all hollywood actresses, Ms. Cate Blanchet. But let's face it at the end - you would leave the theater with a huge question marked face.
Leave it to steven spielberg to connect indiana jones with aliens.
Common.
Who would want to see a history rooted movie be intertwined with sci-fi!? Could there be such a possibility? Well, perhaps. But would movie goers and avid Indiana Jones fan would like to see some magnetic alien skull be the climax of this legendary film - uhm no.
Another is that there's too much going on in this sequel that the movie's story line has perhaps lost its essence. You would rarely see romance and heavy wit on this film which avid fans have much enjoyed in the "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Spielberg's alien is certainly not a plus compared to the deadly caves and interesting artifacts that were presented in previous Indiana Jones film.
Bottom line is - it was quite dissapointing. The movie was well equipped with effects and jaw dropping stunts, but it lost the Indiana Jones touch along the way.
This proves that effects alone cannot outdo a previous record.
Let alone some 13 skeleton aliens trapped in a cave which turned out to be their spaceship - SPOILER. :)

Movie at the Office: Speed Racer

I recently had the opportunity to watch Speed Racer in the new Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall with some college friends. Yes, that was the first time in the mall since I rarely go in that area.
EDIT: I realized that I'm just rewriting the synopsis written in Wikipedia, probably because I am not interested. Just check it out here instead.
The movie was clearly made for kids. Even though 'realistic' animation fans will hate the movie for its visual effects, I must say that I was impressed with its surreal feel. The combination of live action and animation was crude, but it manages to pass itself as a pleasing movie to the eyes.
The problem is that's all there's to it. The storyline is pure crap and one will just be bored with its two-hour-screening since there's nothing that substantial to watch in the movie. My friends and I even managed to text and text while in the middle of the showing.
The best part, I think, of the movie is when the famous Go Speed Racer Go! was played. It somewhat brought me back to the times when I sleep late at night just to watch the US version of the anime on Cartoon Network.
So unless you're really a Speed Racer fan or you think that you can throw in a couple of bucks just to see Rain in the movie, I suggest you not to watch this film.

Reversion of Night and Day
3:30 in the morning. I am still awake. It seems that the almost two months of summer vacation has changed my sleeping habits. I now sleep at around 4 to 5 in the morning, and wake up at around 1 to two in the afternoon.
I am starting to be alarmed. When June 10 comes, I will have to wake up at around 4 in the morning because my first class is at around 7:30 in the morning during Tuesdays and Thursdays, and around 8:30 during Wednesdays and Fridays. I need a drastic shift back to my regular sleeping habits, sleeping before midnight. I was advised that I should wake up early a day or two before the first day of classes so that I will be forced to sleep early that night.
Will it work? I really hope so.

19th Skydiving Birthday!
This would be the most memorable birthday yet. I can't necessarily call it the happiest because my parents weren't with me - but still it was a pretty pretty happy day. :D
For one reason: I celebrated my 19th amongst the clouds, 10,000 ft above the earth with the wind against my face - literally.
Skydiving has been my ultimate dream since i can remember. The thought of throwing yourself out of an airplane and floating in the sky appeals to me. What i have realized though is that it's more than just a thrilling ride, skydiving brings you to a place where you can feel at peace.
But it's not for everyone. It takes a lot of courage to waive your rights and dare to face a jump that could possibly result to your death
This [jumping off a plane] is the hardest part - clay, skydiving instructor
Once you have released yourself from fear, the feeling is incomparable. You experience mix emotions; shocked, bewildered, excited, amused, scared, happy and what not. It's like floating in Utopia. I could have just stayed in that moment forever.
Now i know why the birds sings. For only they get to experience the best flight.
